Some Delhi tidbits

Some Delhi tidbits

Our yoga retreat officially started this afternoon so we had the morning free for some more sightseeing. But first, breakfast.

Dosa with potatoes, dal and lots of chutneys. Delicious.

Not pictured but very much part of this wonderful meal, mango lassis and lots of fresh fruits. Then we had to stop by the spa for a steam bath and a head massage because we’re on vacation. And then we went sightseeing. No sense in rushing things…

Today, the Red Fort and Gate of India.

Not 2 minutes later some ladies asked to have their picture taken with us. I’d like to think because we looked so beautiful and not because I’m freakishly tall.
We did a drive-by photo shoot only at the Gate of India. At this point we had spent quite a bit of time in traffic already and didn’t feel like getting out…
Delhi traffic is no joke. Despite the vibrant colors.
School bus, I assume. With way more kids than even Italians would be able to fit.

To round the morning out we took another quick spin around Khan Market because we haven’t even seen half the shops yet and we’re diligent like that.

Then we got down to business with our first yoga class, stretching and breathing the delicious Delhi air on the hotel balcony. (It’s actually not bad at all. There’s been a lot of rain recently so the air is pretty clean.) Also, that tells you just how ginormous our balconies are. it comfortably fit 8 women on yoga mats!

Then I had my first sound bath which was quite interesting. Some good parts (the vibrations, lots of different instrument) and some not so good parts (laying on a hard floor for an extended period of time makes you realize just how real middle age is hitting). But a great start to what promises to be a wonderful retreat.

Ah, and of course dinner at the fabulous Indian Accent!

Thankful that we skipped lunch
