So Much Color Everywhere

So Much Color Everywhere
Scarves and saris at a traditional tie dye workshop

Writing blog posts on the phone isn’t ideal - it doesn’t let me post videos for example - and I’m often too tired at night to actually throw a post together but there is so much I want to share! And every day is so full of experiences that I could really write more than one post a day (ohmygod, the food alone…) but let‘s be honest, that ain’t gonna happen. But I have to start somewhere so today I want to show you some of the colors here in Jaipur:

We rode elephants up to Amber Fort. I’d like to believe the elephants are happy with their jobs but probably best not to think about it too hard…

The fort was one of the maharaja’s palaces before they moved to Jaipur. It’s strategically located on a hilltop with a long defensive wall surrounding the area. Nowadays it’s a major attraction for locals and tourists alike and since we were there on Sunday the place was teeming with couples doing engagement photo shoots.

There were also some fantastic regular saris on display:

Louise Olko, our resident photographer, took this fantastic shot.

Then we went to a traditional tie dye workshop which even though it was down a seriously filthy back alley, produces merchandise for some major fashion houses in India and abroad. None of us had any idea that tie dye could look like this. Not a single Grateful Dead shirt in sight!

The flower and vegetable market this morning also didn’t disappoint with its colors.

And don’t get me started on all the colors at the Krishna temple!

Needless to say, I feel very conspicuous with my mostly monochrome white/blue/black clothes 😂
