They really are so much further here in terms of transportation.

Dear reader,

I'm cutting in here for the sake of brevity and getting stuff done. Apparently the authorities can't be trusted with the timely upkeep of this blog so it's once again left to me... sigh
And since it's up to me now, we're skipping right over Nikko and head straight to Tokyo. (Don't get me wrong, Nikko was fun and all but entirely too many tourists and too much temple walking. If you really want to see some pictures from there, check out our Instagram.)

So let's get to the good stuff instead. The monster cafés, the toy museums, the Hello Kitty everywhere. And I mean EVERYWHERE.

Hello Kitty street barriers. They know how to get kids interested in road safety in this country!

We didn't do much sightseeing this time around since we saw a lot two years ago. Instead we focused mostly on food and fun. A good time was had by all.

Morning routine:

He got my milk temperature just right. Every time. Apparently the coffee was good too.

Kawaii Monster café:

/0:32
Nobody move. I think there are some scary monster girls behind us. BabyPaw and I totally got this. Just back away v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y.
Monster café lunch. Doesn't it look gorgeous? Of course Catering had to sniff at it. (And then proceed to finish off all the popcorn shrimp. Hmph!)

Robot sushi:

Best place in town. Everyone agrees (in this family).

Karaoke:

Rainbow Karaoke. My new happy place.
They didn't have enough Disney songs on the roster but otherwise, great place. With tambourines and everything!
Next time I want this room. And I'm gonna play the drums, muahahaha.

Pancake breakfast:

Soufflé pancakes, now that's what I'm TALKING about! So fluffy, so soft, so delicious...

Weirdos:

The new city tour. Dress up as your favorite Mario Kart character and zip through the streets. Where by 'zip' they mean follow the leader at a somewhat sedate pace around the block. Also, no banana peel throwing.
Meep meep

Tokyo Toy Museum:

Fishing for (magnetic) worms in the trees. Hours of fun.
If the authorities can ever get their act together and provide an actual full-time residence for us then we're putting one of these in there. No ifs, ands or buts.

Legoland:

Tokyo harbour. Made of Lego.
Lego sumo wrestling.
So, how to build a motorbike...
It took us a few hours to put this together. (Haha, fooled you didn't I?! Of course we didn't build this...)

And much too quickly we headed out and into the Japanese Alps. Bye-bye Tokyo, I miss you already...

Picking our bento boxes for the train. Mine have to have ikura in them, I don't care about the rest. (That's salmon roe for the non-sushi speakers here.)

They have a catalog magazine on the train that the authorities like to look at and laugh. I admit, there's some pretty weird stuff in there...

I think Sasha in London would really like one of these. Have to bring that up with the authorities on the next train.
I don't understand why the woman is getting stuck under her table. Or lying under there in the first place.

Now there's just one more week to catch up and we're all on the same page again. Of course, by the time that catch up has happened we'll be in Australia but it's always worth a try. Good luck Catering!

Sayonara everyone,
SmallPaw
