Copenhagen with Jet Lag

One of the cheapest flights we found to the US this summer was via Copenhagen so we decided to add a few days in the city on our return trip. We figured it would be easier to get over the jet lag when there was something fun to do outside. And we weren't wrong! While the first day was brutal and we only managed to hang on until 6pm before everyone conked out like zombies, the second day was definitely easier.
But we had a good plan for the first day: we went to the Louisiana, a lovely art museum near the sea, surrounded by a beautiful park full of more art. We couldn't check into our AirBnB until the afternoon but thankfully they let us drop our bags there before we ventured out in search of breakfast. Some Lattes and cinnamon buns later, we felt slightly more human and traveled north on the commuter rail to get some culture.
One of the highlights of the museum was definitely the Yayoi Kusama installation "Gleaming Lights of the Souls".

Walking through the park helped keep the tiredness at bay but at some point even ice cream and hyldeblomst saft (elderflower cordial) couldn't convince the kids to stay any longer. And they categorically refused to take an invigorating dip in the sea.

Probably a good idea since the air was 12C and those people who went swimming were obviously Danish and well used to frigid water. So we threw in the (unused) towels and headed back into the city where we valiantly stuck it out until sleep overmanned us all in the early evening.
The next day we met up with my college roommate Henriikka. She had suggested we rent bikes to see the city but knowing our kids we wisely rented a taxi bike for them instead of their own.

And because of a snafu at pickup, Henri and I ended up with another taxi bike instead of individual e-bikes so I got chauffeured around Copenhagen like the queen that I am.

It's a beautiful city and seeing it by bike is absolut perfection since the infrastructure for biking is excellent. Lunch was a highlight at Reffen, a warehouse park turned food truck market. With bungee jumping for entertainment (ideally before eating lunch) and seaplanes taking off near by.
Of course no self-respecting tourist can forgo Nyhavn for a coffee and a photo-op.

Back home now everyone's counting down the days until school starts, some because they're excited and some because they're not so excited. Nothing changes.
