Calvià

Guess what? It's the church!

We felt like we needed to get out of the house the other day so we took a lunch time trip to Calvià, the "governing" city of our county. We've only ever seen it from afar and it looked cute but we'd never actually took the short trek inland to visit.

Turns out, there's a reason for that. While the town looks pretty cute from a distance - all tiny houses clustered around a large church - that's pretty much it. We overheard another family asking the waitress at lunch what she'd recommend they should see in town and she scratched her head before saying "the church" and then adding a little reluctantly "and the municipal offices?". Because we'd already seen the church we figured it wouldn't hurt to check out the municipal offices but turns out that it's just a very large new building with a giant parking lot. Bummer.

To top it off, the church was closed so we couldn't even go inside.
The church from another angle. Because really that's all there is...

To add insult to injury, Conor got sick as a dog from some mystery lasagna he had for lunch. So I hate to say it Calvià, but we won't be back.

Small Paw's trying to will the beer glass towards her.

Luckily when we got home these two lovelies had anchored right in front of us and provided endless hours of binocular fun.

The Italians on the sail boat didn't leave their cabin once (booh!) but the Brits on the motor yacht made up for it with kayak tours, jumping from every deck level and general enjoyment of their wonderful vessel.
