An Indian Adventure

An Indian Adventure
Frangipani everywhere

I’m still working on getting my blogging groove back but obviously a trip to India is the perfect time to dust off our little corner of the internet and make it official that the Paws are back!

In my one day in Delhi I’ve learned that it really is everything people tell you it will be: loud, busy, hot, smelly and chaotic. But it is also lush, vibrant, friendly and so much fun. (I’m sure it helps that we’re tourists and in no rush to get anywhere…)

After falling into our deliciously comfortable beds last night at 3am (that’s when flights from Europe arrive here), we figured we’d try and avoid jet lag by getting up for breakfast and heading out to see some sights.

At Humayun‘s tomb
The walls used to be richly painted and decorated with colors but unfortunately you just have to imagine that nowadays.

Next door is Sunder Nursery, a vast and lovely garden with beautiful plants and more tombs.

It was surprising how empty everything was. Maybe it gets busier on weekends?

Instead of lunch we went shopping because, why not. The place to go is Khan Market, an open-air mall with so many beautiful little shops.

On the way back to our hotel we took a Tuktuk with a lovely driver who immediately decided he would give us a tour of the whole city tomorrow. Let’s see…

His name was very apt: Rapeed

We made it back just in time before the clouds opened up and everything got drenched in a cleansing bath once more. A perfect first day!
